Why I love Target....

I have always been obsessed with Target...their clothes, their decor, the fact that I simply cannot enter without spending a minimum of $100 bucks; But their most recent commercial puts the biggest smile on my face and solidifies my absolute adoration of the bulls eye store. I mean how cute are those little girls? And I can no longer hide the fact that I BURST into song during the chorus...."In a land where the river runs free!!!"

So do you love this as much as me??

Background Noise...

**Disclaimer** Please make sure your volume is turned up for this. What you are about to hear may scare small children :)

Yes...that is an animal making those ungodly noises. Please meet Macy, our 55lb English bulldog. Macy enjoys spending her days (and nights) doing nothing more than what you see here, literally NOTHING! Her physical activity consists of removing herself from her "blanket" by the bed to her spot by the couch, with a twice a day mini-sprint to her food bowl. (Side note...going for a run with a bulldog, especially OUR bulldog,  is not a good idea. I repeat NOT a good idea. Take my "almost killed my fiance's dog" word for it please!) She's not exactly the spitting image of beauty either, but she is Adam's little princess, and she has definitely grown on me too.

The lovely serenade she provides us with sounds something like a mix between a 90 year old man and a pregnant woman's snore (I wouldn't know anything about an undercover recording of my mom 9 months pregnant or anything?), and I am convinced that if they made doggy oxygen tanks...she'd be a prime candidate! With that being said...I'm off to work, yes, at 6am :( Have a great day!

Framework

Recently I have found myself to be somewhat "crafty." This usually a clear sign that I have waaaaaay too much time on my hands, but here's what my idle time has brought for your viewing pleasure.

Project #1: I decided to make some homemade wall art to hang above our bed. We are going with a yellow and gray color scheme, and you can see the art hanging on our newly painted porpoise gray walls! I love the color....but the room is still a work in progress. (I'll post completed pictures once we get everything done) This was so simple.. a little spray paint to transform the once $2 tacky gold frames and Microsoft Word... Ta Dah Art, i guess?!?  I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs, young house love. You can read about their monograms here.

Please excuse the crooked frames courtesy of the hubby!

Project #2: I've been trying to figure out what to do with all the leftover wedding paraphernalia, i.e. a FULL box full of Kizziah napkins, about 50 leftover welcome bags (how was I counting anyway?), and all of our various invitations. It seemed like a waste to keep it all neatly tucked away in a drawer, so this is what I came up with. All it took was a coat of spray paint on an old shadow box I already had, and a hot glue gun. I love how it turned out...

Here it is hanging with one of our favorite wedding gifts from a great friend. You can make your own here. This will definitely be our go-to wedding gift for all future nuptials. Whose next ladies??

So tell me what you think? Do you like my homemade works of art or is it a little too crafty for your liking?

Be Kind To Your Eyes....

As I write this I have officially been wearing my glasses for 14 days! (This is not a happy exclamation point, by the way) For anyone who knows me well, my "goodnight" routine consists of throwing on my pajamas, quickly un-tucking every cover on the bed, grabbing Andre, and snoozing. This, however, leaves little time for those minor details such as washing one's face, and more importantly removing the contacts. I know, I know....my grandmother is cringing as I write.

Well after 5 years of eye abuse, my little guys decided to fight back resulting in a swollen inflamed eye and a trip to the local lens crafters :( Iritis, corneal scratches, 2 prescriptions later, 2 doctors visits (1 still to come tomorrow) and the verdict is out....I AM NOT A GLASSES WEARER!

Below please find the reasons why I loathe those medal framed magnifyers known as glasses.....

One:  I live in Florida, I drive in Florida. The SUNSHINE state!  Equaling a perma-squint and impending crow's feet. Enough said!

Two: Clearly the inventor of glasses was a male as he never considered how one might apply make-up either while wearing glasses, or worse yet, removing them. Can we say clown face?

Three: I am convinced that my eyes don't acknowledge that my body is awake without the presence of plastic contacts inserted resulting in sleepy feeling eyes ALL the time.

Four: And then there is the nerd push-up! I have yet to determine a more subtle or attractive manner in which to push up frames that are sliding down my nose other than the classic one-finger push-up in the center of the frames. Picture steve-urkle...not pretty.

I in know way mean to offend all you glasses-wearing beauties out there, I am just simply not one of them. I feel much more like the 80 year old librarian than the attractive boy fantasy version.  And apparently I actually look much more like a 17 year old girl than a soon-to-be 25 year old married woman as my eye doctor so kindly informed me that, " he would try very hard to have me out of glasses by the time my birthday rolls around. He knows that is VERY important to me!" I mean, cmon, do I really still look young enough to care about my birthday outfit? Sigh...this is what I get for having a baby face!

Wish me luck tomorrow....

So I Caved...

Secretly I've been a blog stalker for many years. I find it fascinating to get a sneak peek into other's lives, read their quirky stories, look at their pictures, etc. I've been resisting the temptation to blog myself, especially given the fact that...SHOCKINGLY... I'm really not all that interesting. But for all those who care to read...here goes my attempt at chronicling the life of a high school public school teacher, new wife, twenty something Georgia fan who just moved into the heart of Gator Country....definitely not in Kansas anymore.

Hope you all enjoy!
