Progress

Do you hear that peeps? We are making progress with pups!! Just look at this...

It's a touch, well almost, but definitely close to being a real touch, as in two animals close enough to touch if they wanted to!! For those of you who have never met my two wonderful pooches, let me just say there is definitely an alpha female in our presence. We call her Macy, or May May for short. With the new introduction of little brother Max, casa Kizziah went from calm Queen Bee palace to chaos in a matter of minutes. Complete with many growls, doggie time-outs (kennel time) and maybe even a scream or two from a nervous mom as I witnessed what was sure to be a doggie death in front of my very eyes.

I am pleased to announce we are in the GREEN!! Our pups are getting along cohabitating quite nicely. They are even, dare I say, "playing"! Not sure you can quite classify what you are about to see as true playing considering out geriatric bulldog hasn't seen this much activity in years, but still it's quite entertaining for the rents to watch!

**Note of warning: please completely and utterly disregard the extreme ridiculousness of my voice in these videos. Do I really sound like that? Somehow I missed the memo that my camera records sound and am simply not tech-savvy enough to figure out how to mute it. Hence my public humiliation begins!!! **

Love Day...

First of all, have you missed me? We have been without internet for about a week and a half...ugh!! For the record, I hate all internet companies! It seems no matter which state I am, they are all awful. With that being said, I'm back to blogging! Yay! I know you are all jumping for joy!! :)

So with my minor blip in internet service I couldn't even post pictures from my most dreaded favorite Holiday, Valentine's Day. I actually really don't enjoy the holiday. Not because I have been scarred by any horrible past experience, I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic and would much rather get a lovely gift on the random 3rd Wednesday of the month than on a set "expected" day. Does that make since? Anyway, boy does my hubby know me well. Here's a look at my D-day V-day present...

A candy bouquet!! So much better than roses!! I'm a lucky woman!

Macy was feeling the love too...

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day or S.A.D. day (single's awareness day) as my student's so lovingly refer to it...

She's Got The Look...

There is so much to be said about a certain furry female in our home, and no, I am not referring to my un-shaved legs :) But really no words are necessary. Only photos could possibly describe our bulldog, Macy. Take a look at a typical day in the life of May, as we affectionately call her...

Approximately 90% of her day is spent doing this...

Yes, Those are Adam's clothes. She LOVES to be on our clothes. I absolutely cannot leave clean clothes laying around or they will be ruined with the lovely smell of pooch.

And the close-up shot!
The rest of her day is spent doing one of the following things...

1. Staring aimlessly into nothingness. Looking Regal Though!!

Notice the Crossed Legs!! What a lady!!

 2.  Begging For Food/ Following me around the kitchen...

3. Begging to Get on the Couch (she's been recently banned!!!)

4. Snarling because I have upset her in some way. She can be very temperamental.

She doesn't like that I just cleaned her ear

5. Basking in the sunlight

As you can see, It's rough to be Macy :) Hope you enjoyed a Day in the Life of our pampered pooch!!

It's a Boo-tiful Wednesday...

I decided to Halloweenify my house just a tad for the upcoming fantastic holiday known as Halloween. I not only ADORE any excuse to eat excessive amounts of miniature candy without feeling guilty, but it just so happens to be the night I met my wonderful husband (more to come on that later), and thus holds a special place in my heart. I really still wish I could dress up and go trick-or-treating with all the neighborhood kids. I guess I'll have to resort to dressing up our pup. What ya think about this...

Adam would definitely go for this....

No, this is definitely the winner for our ridiculously, worthlessly lazy pampered pooch...

With that being said, I am not so much into the scary Halloween motif, as the cutesy orange and black fall-like theme. Also I have a budget of around zero for such non-essential home beautification. So with that in mind, I went to the DIY haven known as the Dollar General! The town I teach in has 3, I repeat three different dollar stores for my shopping pleasure! Can you believe this? Only two stop lights, two whole restaurants, 1 grocery store, but THREE dollar stores! Needless to say I bought way more than I actually needed. See a complete shopping list below....

3 black frames
5 spools of wire ribbon
2 glass candles sticks
1 tub of candy corn
1 Christmas plate (can you believe they already have Christmas stuff?)
1 bag of Caramel apple suckers (I adore these!!)

I used the black frames, candy corn, a hot glue gun, and some downloaded scrap book paper from Crystal Wilkerson to create these little cuties for our den...

In case anyone was wondering, downloadable scrap book paper might be the best invention EVER!! I found these lovely backgrounds here. And you don't even need Photo Shop. I simply created a textbox in Microsoft Word, set the scrapbook paper jpg file as the background added the letters, and Voila!! I then decided they needed a little flair and got to work hot gluing the candy corn to the outside of the frames! I love how they turned out. Here's a close-up shot...

I then decided it would be a shame to waste the rest of the candy corn, so I poured them into a flower vase, tied a little black and white striped bow around the top, and created ANOTHER dollar store decoration...

Secret Confession: I didn't have enough candy corn to fill the jar to the rim, and it just didn't look right. So what did I do? Placed an empty pepper shaker inside the vase and poured the candy corn around it! Genius huh? Thanks. I thought so! This is one of those things that I'm still not sure is considered real decorating, but I thought I'd share it anyway. So do you love Halloween as much as I do?

Background Noise...

**Disclaimer** Please make sure your volume is turned up for this. What you are about to hear may scare small children :)

Yes...that is an animal making those ungodly noises. Please meet Macy, our 55lb English bulldog. Macy enjoys spending her days (and nights) doing nothing more than what you see here, literally NOTHING! Her physical activity consists of removing herself from her "blanket" by the bed to her spot by the couch, with a twice a day mini-sprint to her food bowl. (Side note...going for a run with a bulldog, especially OUR bulldog,  is not a good idea. I repeat NOT a good idea. Take my "almost killed my fiance's dog" word for it please!) She's not exactly the spitting image of beauty either, but she is Adam's little princess, and she has definitely grown on me too.

The lovely serenade she provides us with sounds something like a mix between a 90 year old man and a pregnant woman's snore (I wouldn't know anything about an undercover recording of my mom 9 months pregnant or anything?), and I am convinced that if they made doggy oxygen tanks...she'd be a prime candidate! With that being said...I'm off to work, yes, at 6am :( Have a great day!
